Every ede pair begins in our family workshop in Gaziantep, Turkey — the same atelier where our family has been making shoes since 1950. From the first cut of leather to the final stitch, each pair passes through more than 200 handcrafted steps. No assembly lines. No shortcuts. Just three generations of knowledge in every pair.
It starts with the leather
We hand-select the softest natural leathers from local tanneries — leathers we know by touch, from suppliers our family has worked with for decades. Each pattern piece is cut by hand, the way bespoke shoemakers have always done it.
Shaping the shoe
The cut pieces are meticulously stitched to form the upper, then pulled over the last — the wooden foot form that gives every shoe its shape. Lasting is a craft of its own: pulling, hammering, and coaxing the leather until the fit is exactly right. Our artisans learned it from their fathers, who learned it from theirs.
The sole that grounds you
Our signature hot-pressed buffalo leather sole is bonded and trimmed by hand to follow the exact perimeter of each shoe. The heat-pressed traction pattern gives you grip without rubber — keeping the sole fully conductive, the way grounding footwear should be.
Stitched on, not glued
The sole is then hand-sewn with 100% waxed cotton thread — a slow, laborious process most modern shoemakers replaced with glue long ago. We kept it. It's what makes an ede pair last.
The copper K1 rivet
Finally, a solid copper rivet is hand-hammered through the sole of every pair. Together with the leather sole, it keeps an unbroken conductive path between the bottom of your foot and the ground — a property you can verify with a multimeter. No rubber, no synthetic barrier. Grounding construction, built in from day one.
No two pairs alike — because we use real, naturally tanned leather and nearly every part of the hide, you'll find gentle wrinkles and subtle colour variance. We think that's beautiful. As you walk, your pair develops a wear pattern that belongs to you alone.
